"(...)here rules elegance, precision, sovereignty: in brief - beauty!"
The first Herrenrunde took place in Oliver Leicht's home in Cologne-Ehrenfeld.The musicians met regularly to jam together. They not only felt pretty good while playing, but also when we had a break for coffee. They felt this wonderful open and harmonious mood and out of this relaxed atmosphere, the quartet was founded ---- and with it the basis of [Acht.]
Oliver Leicht (alto, clarinet) Norbert Scholly (guitar), Ingmar Heller (bass) and Jens Duppe (drums) it’s a well harmonized band using modern jazz arrangements, which, partly through solos, partly through group improvisations open up and expand these compositions. They found their own way to give compositions a new form and present them in a different light, at times elegant, at times reaching out and grabbing you, always with the language of modern jazz at the center, this style, continually reaching out in it’s various directions and always expanding. The quartet is rounded out with Ack Van Rooyen. An experienced master of the lyrical flugelhorn who enriches the band’s sound and adds color and variation to the ensemble.
