Cold Water Storie

After years of working with various ensembles, an invitation to perform at the "Piano Jazz Series" at Blues Alley in Washington, D.C. in April 2014 led to the world premiere of Hoefner's first full-length solo piano program. Since then, he has continued to perform and develop the program. In 2015, he received a grant from the Cultural Development Program in his new home, the Canadian Province, Newfoundland and Labrador, to compose and record new repertoire for solo piano. The recording took place in May 2016 at Sendesaal Bremen, Germany, and the result was released in November 2017 on Origin Records under the title "Coldwater Stories." The new pieces are written specifically for solo piano and combine Hoefner's virtuosic and rhythmically precise piano playing with his unique compositional style.
